New Watford signing Jose Holebas has claimed that his former club Roma sold him without speaking to him first.

The Greek defender signed for the Giallorossi at the beginning of last season from Olimpiacos, but failed to impress enough to warrant a longer stay at the club.

“They [Roma] arranged my transfer without speaking to me first,” he told gazzetta.gr

“I did not sign anything.”

The 31-year-old continued to say that he was happy in Rome and is quite perplexed as to why the club sold him in this fashion.

“I do not know why this has happened,” Holebas pondered.

“I never said I wanted to leave Rome.”

The defender concluded by revealing that he will sign a contract at the newly-promoted Premier League side, having agreed terms with the club.

“I have returned from my holiday in Dubai to be told of the transfer.

“I am now in Germany to sign the contract.”

The Giallorossi boast a considerably better win ratio without Holebas in the side, winning 10 of the 15 games they played without him. With the Greek international, however, they won just nine of 23 Serie A matches.
