Palermo’s hopes of signing Arsenal’s Joel Campbell have been dealt a blow, as the striker is attracting interest from other European clubs.

Campbell has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium, falling down the pecking order behind the likes of Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez.

The Daily Star report that Palermo may be priced out of a move however, with Arsenal’s demands of €9 million proving too steep for the Sicilians.

This has allowed Spanish side Real Sociedad and Turkish outfit Trabzonspor to swoop.

Since joining Arsenal in 2011 Campbell has had four separate loan spells away from the club, most recently at Villarreal.

Despite catching the eye for Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup and a positive season at Olympiacos in 2013/14, the 23-year-old has never been able to establish himself with the Gunners and looks increasingly likely to leave.
