CIzINqbXAAEaXz2Italian star Andrea Pirlo looks virtually set to become a New York City FC player within the coming days, as the American club announced his arrival on their website before swiftly removing any evidence of having done so.

Pirlo, who has been linked with a move to the Major Soccer League for quite some time, was spotted in New York City recently ahead of a move away from Serie A champions Juventus, with the transfer all but official.

In fact confirmation of his move was actually posted by the New York club on their official website and Twitter, only to be taken down immediately.

The team from the Big Apple accidentally confirmed his arrival on June 30, after posting a picture to their website and on Twitter that labelled the midfielder as a New York City FC player and the post included a photo of Pirlo in the club’s kit.

Within a matter of minutes however the post was removed, most likely due to the fact that the deal may not be finalised on Juventus’ end, with the Bianconeri yet to make any word of the affair.

However one eager eye managed to screenshot the image before it was eradicated from the site.
