Juventus have confirmed that Andrea Pirlo has completed his MLS switch to join new franchise New York City FC.

The move had been imminent for weeks now, and after four years at Juventus, Pirlo’s next career stop will take him to North America.

Juventus announced the 36-year-old’s departure via social media as well as on the club’s official website, thanking Pirlo for all his contributions to the Bianconeri and wishing him good luck.

The World Cup and Champions League winner is due to soon join his new NYCFC teammates who will count high-profile stars such as Frank Lampard and David Villa.

The Italian enjoyed a successful, albeit injury-blighted, season with Juventus. The midfielder helped the Bianconeri to a fourth successive Scudetto, their 10th Coppa Italia triumph, as well as the Champions League final.

Pirlo played 32 games in all competitions for Juventus last season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process.
