Former AC Milan defender Adil Rami has stated that the chance to work with Sevilla coach Unai Emery was a major factor in his decision to leave Italy for Spain.

The French international only signed for the Rossoneri in January 2014 but has since expressed his excitement of joining the Europa League champions.

“Emery had a very important role when I made my choice,” said the 29-year-old during his presentation press conference.

“But the main reason is simply that Sevilla is a great club.”

He continued: “I have a lot of respect for Milan but now I will be trained by the best coach in the world.

“I am only focused on working hard and expressing my character.”

Rami has previously expressed his disappointment with former Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi, last season making only 21 league appearances.
