Former Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has signalled his intent of returning to the English Premier League by expressing his desire to manage Leicester City.
The 63-year-old has been without work since his contract with the Greece national team was terminated in November 2014, and Leicester are yet to find a replacement for the recently sacked Nigel Pearson.
“The experience with Greece is behind me and now I am waiting for the next attractive project,” Ranieri told The Sunday Post.
“I have not had any contact with Leicester, but if they call me I would be willing to hear what they have to say.”
Ranieri previously worked in England with Chelsea for four years from 2000 to 20004 before being sacked.
“I would be thrilled to return to the Premier League. For me, it is the best league in Europe.”
The former Roma coach touched on his stint with Chelsea, stating that his time laid the groundwork for Jose Mourinho to come in and make the club the success they are today.
“I was not surprised at the success of Jose because I left a very strong team. Chelsea was a great club to work at, they are of a very high level and with a great communication.
“I always knew it would not last forever. Coaches are like lawyers: we have a goal and we do our best to achieve it. If we do well we stay, otherwise we move on.”
