Roma have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Barcelona full-back Adriano following an injury to his teammate Douglas.
The 30-year-old defender has been linked with a move to the Giallorossi in recent weeks, with the capital club already seeing one bid rejected for the experienced Brazil international.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the injury of Douglas against Chelsea has greatly complicated the plans of the Lupi, as Barcelona are now even more reluctant to sell a defensive option in the wake of Douglas’ injury.
Douglas will miss the start of the new season due to the hamstring injury sustained during the Champions League winners defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday night, with the former Sao Paulo player facing up to eight weeks on the treatment table, meaning the Catalan club are unlikely to let Adriano leave during the current transfer window.
