Roma are in the hunt to sign Paris Saint-Germain left-back Lucas Digne despite reports that the Giallorossi are close to securing a deal for Abdul Rahman Baba.

The Lupi have been tracking Augsburg’s highly sought after Ghanaian international and had moved ahead in the race to capture his signature despite interest from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, but Rudi Garcia is still monitoring Digne as he tries to reinforce the club’s left-back position.

According to reports in French newspaper Le Parisien, the Giallrossi are still tracking the 21-year-old defender who Garcia previously worked with during his time at Lille.

The left-back position has become a key priority for Garcia and sporting director Walter Sabatini after the sale of Jose Holebas to English Premier League side Watford and also due to the failure of Ashley Cole to live up to expectations in the Italian capital after last summer’s move from Chelsea.

French international Digne has made 44 appearances since joining PSG from Lille in 2013.
