After being rebuffed by Manchester City for Edin Dzeko, Serie A side Roma are now targetting FC Zenit front man Salomon Rondon.

The Giallorossi offered the Citizens €15 million plus bonuses to obtain the Bosnian’s services, but the deal was declined and the English Premier League club are now asking for more than double the original offer.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Walter Sabatini is lining up a bid for Venezuelan forward Rondon who would cost around €20 million.

Rudi Garcia’s side are in the hunt for a new striker and are trying to offload Seydou Doumbia and Mattia Destro, who are heavily linked with West Ham United.

Although back-up to Sergio Aguero, Dzeko still managed a healthy return of goals for City, notching 16 times last season in 31 games and providing one assist, though now looks unlikely to make the switch to Italy.
