Sampdoria have completed the signing of 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder Fernando from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee of €8 million.
The move, which had been in the works for the past several weeks, was finally made official via a statement on the Blucerchiati’s official website on Monday.
“President Massimo Ferrero, the Sampdoria club, Walter Zenga and the team are pleased to welcome into the family Sampdoria Fernando Lucas Martins,” the statement read.
“The Brazilian midfielder, born in Erechim 3 March 1992, was purchased outright and has just signed a contract for five years.
“The former player of Shakhtar Donetsk – having undergone in the morning at the Laboratory Albaro a medical in the company of Professor Claudio Mazzola and Dr. Gian Edilio Solimei – is therefore ready to wear the shirt Blubiancorossonerabiancoblu.”
