Sampdoria have reached an agreement with Cesena to sign the French forward Gregoire Defrel, although the deal is yet to be finalised as the Ligurian side feel they have an excess of attacking players.

The Blucerchiati are waiting to sell one of Eder or Stefano Okaka to create room in the squad for the 24-year-old’s arrival after Samuel Eto’o was already sold to the Turkish side Antalyaspor.

According to Il Secolo XIX, Cesena have agreed to sell Defrel to Sampdoria for the fee of €6 million although Samp are working to move one of Okaka or Eder on before confirming the Frenchman’s transfer.

Cesena signed Defrel on a permanent basis in June 2015 from Parma and the Cavallucci Marini kindly agreed to pay a €51,000 fee despite the player being available for nothing so that the staff who served the Crociati could receive some compensation after working for nothing before losing their jobs when the club went bankrupt.

Defrel made 34 appearances and scored nine goals for Cesena during the 2014-15 Serie A season.
