AC Milan legend Mauro Tassotti believes that the Rossoneri’s activity in the transfer market has helped to bridge the gap between the Rossoneri and reigning champions Juventus, although the former Italian international has acknowledged that there is still some distance to go before Milan will be challenging for the Scudetto.

After several disappointing seasons, the Rossoneri have returned to their former ways, making several big money signings following the promise of investment from a consortium lead by Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol who is expected to complete the purchase of a 48% share in the club by the end of this week.

“There is a nice atmosphere around the team,” Tassotti explained to the Milan Channel.

“The two new players, [Carlos] Bacca and Luiz Adriano have done well against Inter in China, but the transfer market is still a long way from closing and everyone continues to pursue their own interests.

“[Alessio] Romagnoli could do well at Milan and maybe in a few years he could be worth more than AC Milan will have to fork out now.

“I think that Milan are growing and the club is investing heavily. Bridging the gap with Juventus will not be easy, you have to do something exceptional, but I think that the difference between us has already has been reduced a bit.”

After serving 14 years as the Rossoneri’s assistant coach, Tassotti has taken up a new role at the club and will now serve as a scout with responsibility for monitoring the progress of young Milan players who are out on loan at other teams.
