Simone Verdi Napoli 2 Empoli 2Youngster Simone Verdi is ready to stay and fight for his place at AC Milan, after being re-signed by the club from Torino this month.

The 22-year-old Italian youth international was bought out by the Rossoneri after his co-ownership agreement went to the blind auctions.

Reports suggest that the player may be sold on for a quick profit or loaned out like he has been to Juve Stabia and Empoli in the past few seasons, but the player has other ideas.

“I grew up in Milan, so you can imagine my reaction [when I got signed], I have great memories of the Milanello,” Verdi told Tuttosport.

“I thank Empoli and Sarri for two wonderful seasons. The idea is to start training with the first team, something I dreamed of as a boy has finally come true.

Carpi and Atalanta interest? My goal now is to play my cards at Milan and to put the coach in some difficulty [when choosing the squad]. I’m willing to fight and get involved.”
