Want-away Napoli man completes Monterrey switch

GarganoNapoli’s Walter Gargano has completed his move to Mexican side Monterrey.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder has become surplus to requirements at Napoli since former coach Rafael Benitez had arrived at the Stadio San Paolo, with the player moving on after eight years.

Monterrey announced the Uruguayan’s arrival via their official website.

“We [Monterrey] inform you [the fans] that we have reached agreement with the relevant parties [Napoli] for the player Walter Alejandro Gargano Guevara to join our team,” read the statement.

“In short, the player will conclude the corresponding medical protocol.”

Gargano had arrived in Naples in 2007, but spending the last two seasons out on loan at Inter and Parma before returning to Napoli last season. The midfielder made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Partenopei last season.
