Newly promoted English Premier League club Watford have made an approach for Sampdoria striker Stefano Okaka.

The 25-year-old former Roma forward has been earmarked as the man to lead The Hornets attack next season, under new coach Quique Flores.

According to SampNews24.com, the London club have offered a transfer fee in the region of €3 million and tempted the player with five-year contract worth €700,000 per season plus bonuses.

Sampdoria officials are worried the club will lose the player on a free transfer next summer, with Samp ready to negotiate a deal and use the funds to freshen up their own squad ahead of the new season.

Okaka has spent time in London before, with Fulham during 2011, scoring two goals in 11 appearances while on loan from Roma before returning to Italy.
