Watford are looking to continue their raid of Serie A by snapping up Cristian Ledesma on a free transfer.

Ledesma, who has been with Lazio since 2006, did not have his contract renewed by the capital club at the end of the season and so is now looking for a new club.

According to Calciomercato.it, Watford is currently the most likely destination for the 32-year-old midfielder and negotiations between the two parties have already begun.

Watford, who are owned by Gino Pozzo, have already recruited players from Serie A this summer.

The newly promoted side have already signed Jose Holebas from Roma and are close to deal for Genoa’s Diego Perotti.

Ledesma experienced limited first team action last season making only 13 appearances for Lazio in all competitions, with seven as a starter.
