AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo has been taken to hospital after receiving a blow to the head during Wednesday evening’s friendly against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 30-year-old was caught by Nabil Bentaleb’s stray boot and took a knock to the back of the skull whilst making a slide tackle. Despite needing medical attention on the pitch, Montolivo managed to continue until half-time before being substituted.
Premium Sport reports that the former Fiorentina man has since been taken to hospital for further tests after complaining of dizziness and neck pain, with Milan’s medical team feeling it necessary to take every precaution.
Milan were facing Spurs in the Audi Cupwhich was held at the Allianz Arena and also featured Real Madrid and hosts Bayern Munich. The Rossoneri succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the English side to come fourth, following yesterday’s 3-0 loss to Bayern.
