witselZenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel is still highly sought after by AC Milan, despite ongoing negotiations with Sampdoria for Roberto Soriano.

The Rossoneri want to end their summer spending with the addition of a midfielder, with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic keen on a reunion with Soriano at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

However, despite advanced negotiations for the Sampdoria manSportitalia are insisting there is still every chance of Witsel joining Milan this summer.

A date has been set for further discussions with the Russian club, but it very much depends on the outcome of negotiations for Soriano, which have since hit complications with the Bluecerchiati making further demands.

Milan are thought to have met the €10 million fee set by Sampdoria, but now they’re asking for either Jose Mauri or Antonio Nocerino if the Rossoneri can’t pay in full immediately.

As such, attention has returned to Witsel but the €35 million asking price would need to be renegotiated with Zenit.
