AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang is set to miss the next three months through injury after breaking a metatarsal in their defeat against Bayern Munich.

The Rossoneri endured a difficult encounter against the German champions, falling to a crushing defeat and to make matters worse, lost Niang and club captain Riccardo Montolivo to injury the following day in their loss to Tottenham Hotspur in their final game of the Audi Cup.

In his post match press conference, Sinisa Mihajlovic announced that Niang had fractured his fifth metatarsal and La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Frenchman will be out for three months.

There was better news on Montolivo as he was released from hospital and given the all clear on Wednesday night.

Niang had been hoping to make his mark for the Rossoneri this season after impressing for Genoa on loan last season, but the 20-year-old will now have to wait for his chance.
