AC Milan’s rival bidder for the land that the club have been awarded to build their new stadium on have gone public in a dispute over costs.

Fondazione Fiera, a property investor and exhibition company operating out of Milan, had their application to control the land in the Portello area of the city rejected on July 7 when the Rossoneri were given the go ahead to build a new home.

However, Corriere della Sera report that the foundation’s president Benito Benedini is growing increasingly unhappy with the football club’s sudden hesitation to occupy the site due to spiralling costs.

The restoration costs are alleged to have increased by around €35 million, due to difficulties building into the basement of the site and the planned underground station to go along with the stadium.

While reports persist that Milan are exploring a different venue for a new home in the Falck area of the city, the Rossoneri have issued a statement denying that the delays in building the stadium are related to Fondazione Fiera’s claims.
