De Jong - AC MilanAC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong was involved in a half-time spat with Pep Guardiola after the Bayern Munich coach reacted angrily to a challenge which left Joshua Kimmich injured in Tuesday evening’s clash at the Allianz Arena.

Guardiola was forced to withdraw 20-year-old German midfielder after picking up a knock off a crunching tackle from the Rossoneri player.

As a result, the former Barcelona confronted De Jong in the tunnel at the half-time whistle, who had to be restrained by his teammates as Guardiola gestured furiously at the midfielder.

Speaking to reporters following the incident, the 44-year-old tactician lamented Kimmich’s injury, and believes that he will become one of Germany’s best players.

“I told De Jong that I was sad for Joshua,” he told reporters. “He won’t be able to play in the final [against Real Madrid] and perhaps he’ll be out even longer than that.

“He certainly will become one of the best German players in the next 10 years.”

Meanwhile, Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic berated Guardiola’s reaction, and claims that such accidents are inevitable in the sport.

“We play football, this is no ballet and fouls are part of the game,” the San Siro trainer added. “This is no friendly, this is a tournament to prepare for the season.”
