ac milan stadiumAC Milan have decided to delay their earlier plans to build a stadium in the area of Portello, next to the club’s museum and shop at Casa Milan.

The Rossoneri had received permission to develop the site on July 7 in what club director Barbara Berlusconi described as a”historic step”, but the club appears to have reconsidered the plans and abandoned their original scheme.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, the president of the Fondazione Fiera Benito Benedini received a letter from Milan director Barbara Berlusconi criticising the costs of the site where the club had intended to build their new stadium with the cooperation of Benedini’s organisation.

It has been reported that Milan’s chief investor, the Berlusconi-run Fininvest deemed the area around the Fiera too expensive following an additional evaluation and they are now looking at cheaper alternatives.

The club have identified the former Falck steel factory in the far northern quarter of Sesto San Giovanni as a potential site for the construction of their new home as the Portello plan appears to have fallen out of favour.
