AC Milan are set to launch a final attempt to sign Roma central defender Alessio Romagnoli.

The 20-year-old has been highly sought after this summer, attracting notable interest from Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Napoli and the Rossoneri in the Serie A.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, a deal could be in sight with Milan preparing their final bid, with both clubs reportedly close to finding a mutual agreement.

Roma have maintained their initial demand of €30 million, but Milan have remained resolute with a €25 million offer with the player said to be interested in a potential move to the San Siro.

The latest report also suggests the Rossoneri could be prepared to meet the Giallorossi half-way, raising their bid to around €28 million.

A move to AC Milan could see Romagnoli reunite with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic where both enjoyed a fruitful relationship at Sampdoria last season.

Under Mihajlovic, Romagnoli made 32 appearances, scoring on two occasions during his loan spell.
