Sampdoria have agreed a deal in principle for midfielder Roberto Soriano to move to the Rossoneri.

Diavolo vice-president Adriano Galliani and Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero will meet in person to close the deal that will likely see Milan’s Antonio Nocerino move to Liguria.

After Sampdoria held out for around €15 million, La Gazzetta dello Sport believe that the lengthy negotiations have been concluded at a transfer fee of €10m for the 24-year-old, who worked with Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris last season.

New Blucerchiati coach Walter Zenga is pushing for a move for Nocerino as a part-exchange for Soriano, although the Sampdoria hierarchy remain somewhat unconvinced about the veteran midfielder and are yet to finalise the details for signing the 30-year-old.

In the meantime, Samp are still expecting Soriano to feature in their season opener against Carpi on Sunday, but afterwards will likely have to make do without the man who scored four goals in 33 Serie A appearances last season.
