Adriano Galliani has tried to comfort new AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca after he missed a penalty by comparing him to George Weah.

The Colombian international missed a penalty in Milan’s International Champions Cup defeat to Real Madrid in China but Galliani reassured him, insisting even the very best make mistakes.

“I reassured Bacca, even the best can miss a penalty,” Galliani told Il Corriere della Sera.

“I remember in 1995 when George Weah missed a penalty in the Trofeo Berlusconi.

“Even the coach at the time [Fabio] Capello question Weah and his ability.

“But Weah went onto to become a great player and do amazing things at the cub.”

The former Club Brugge forward Bacca managed 34 goals in 74 appearances during his two seasons in La Liga with Sevilla before joining Milan earlier this summer.
