AC Milan are reportedly yet to make a bid for Zenit St Petersburg’s Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel.
The 26-year-old has been linked with the Rossoneri for much of the summer, but the Serie A side are still to make a formal offer for the player.
According to Sportitalia, Milan do like the the former Benfica man but there has not been any formal contact between the two clubs.
The Rossoneri are set to schedule a meeting in which they will assess the feasibility of a move for Witsel and decide whether to make a first bid for Witsel, or accept that Zenit’s asking price is beyond what Milan see as reasonable.
Witsel made 28 appearances and scored four goals as the Zenitchiki won the 2014-15 Russian Premier League by a margin of seven points ahead of runners-up CSKA Moscow.
Witsel has featured 64 times for Zenit St Petersburg since moving to Russia from Benfica in 2012.
