Inter‘s hopes of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi have been dealt a blow.

The Nerazzurri had been hoping to sign the Argentine international to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes but the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, has dismissed rumours that he will leave the French side.

“Yes, there is interest from Inter,” he told L’Equipe.

“But Ezequiel wants to remain in Paris and is not leaving the team.

“Even though there is so much competition for his position he will do anything to play for PSG.

“It’s similar to Argentina, there is [Lionel] Messi, [Angel] Di Maria, [Gonzalo] Higuain, [Carlos] Tevez and [Sergio] Aguero but Lavezzi has still played many matches and played in the final of the World Cup.”

Inter won 1-0 against Atalanta on the opening day of the season and face a trip to Carpi this Sunday.
