Bologna director Claudio Fenucci has stated that the signing of Mattia Destro shows the ambition of the newly promoted club and that the forward will be a major player for the Rossoblu this season.

The 24-year-old was signed from Roma for a fee of €6.5 million plus add-ons and former Giallorossi director Fenucci was quick to praise the Italy international.

“We chased him [Destro] for a long time during this transfer window and in the end we reached an agreement with Roma and with the player who expressed his intention to come here,” said Fenucci at the press conference for the presentation of Destro.

“We expect a lot from him this season even if we do not want to put too much responsibility on him.

“He is a major player and is certainly one for the present and for the future.”
