Emanuele Giaccherini SunderlandEmanuele Giaccherini is closing in on a switch from Premier League strugglers Sunderland to Serie A outfit Bologna.

The former Juventus man, who can play anywhere across the midfield, moved to the Black Cats in 2013 and initially impressed in his first year with the north-east club before injuries halted his progression during the 2014-15 season.

Now, Corriere di Bologna report that a deal is close as all parties involved prefer a transfer, and with this willingness to move Giaccherini could be in the stands to watch the Felsinei take on Sassuolo on Saturday evening.

Before a move must be completed the final figures must be agreed upon, and as of yet there are issues to be ironed out with regard to a transfer fee and personal terms.

Nevertheless, a deal is close for the 30-year-old to be the latest recognised name to make the move to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as Bologna seek survival in their return to the top-flight.
