Inter look set to lose out on signing Chinese defender Zhang Linpeng.
The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande, has been compared to Spanish defender Sergio Ramos and described as, “the best Chinese footballer in the Chinese Super League,” by Italian coach Marcello Lippi.
It is no surprise, then, that he has been linked with moves to big European clubs with Inter being one of them, however Chinese media reports that English Premier League giants Chelsea have also made an offer for him.
Reports also indicate that the Nerazzurri are expected to lose out on signing Linpeng as Guangzhou Evergrande look set to discuss contract details with Chelsea.
Linpeng joined Guangzhou in 2010 and has won four Chinese Super League titles since, scoring 13 goals and assisting another 21 in his 144 games for them.
