Injured Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is facing a delay in his recovery, but team-mate Claudio Marchisio is nearing a Serie A return.

The summer arrival from Real Madrid suffered a problem in his right thigh muscle when participating in a pre-season friendly against Marseille, while Marchisio was ruled out with a similar issue following a training session earlier this month.

According to Tuttosport, free transfer signing Khedira was expected to make his Italian league debut at home to Frosinone on September 23.

However, Calcio News 24 report that the Bianconeri medical staff have instead decided to wait a little longer before reintroducing the German international.

Both sources agree that 29-year-old star Marchisio should feature immediately after the international break, when reigning Serie A champions Juve entertain Chievo.

Meanwhile, long-term knee injury victim Kwadwo Asamoah is set to begin light training shortly, but will be forced to hang on at least one month before embarking upon a full resumption of first-team duty.
