Mattia DestroNew Bologna striker Mattia Destro announced that he moved to the Rossoblu because he believes in the club’s project to move forwards.

The 24-year-old also admitted that he wants to beat his goalscoring record of 13 goals in a season so that he can work his way back into the Italy setup.

“This is an important year but the next few years will be important too, I was convinced 100 per cent to come here,” said Destro at his official presentation as a Bologna player.

“This is an important place with an ambitious team and an interesting project that reflected what I was looking for.

“The reception I received was beautiful and it reflects the will of this city to do well.

“I was convinced immediately about Bologna as a destination for me, any delays were only due to us working out all the details.

“When I learnt that there was a possibility to come here, I spoke to everybody and was convinced by the project and I want to grow here along with the team.”

The former Roma attacker also insisted that he is willing to take responsibility at Bologna as he attempts to work his way into the Italy team.

“I am ready to take responsibility as I have always done, it doesn’t scare me,” said Destro.

“My objective is to return to the national team, but first I have to help the team to achieve the goals it has set.

“I haven’t set myself fixed goals but I would like to beat my record goal tally which is 13 goals.

“My goalscoring record across my career is positive if I exclude the last six months I spent at AC Milan.”
