Empoli coach Marco Giampaolo was proud of his team despite their second defeat of the Serie A season.

The Tuscans travelled to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to face AC Milan but lost despite promising play.

“It’s a shame, because we had plenty of chances to win the game,” Giampaolo toldĀ MediasetĀ post match.

“The three points go to our opponent, who I can only compliment. I will not blame my players.”

Former AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Saponara scored, but it wasn’t enough for the Azzurri.

“The team knows how to play, we must continue on this path,” the Empoli boss continued.

“We aren’t a physical team, we have to keep playing like we know. I’m proud of the team.”

Empoli are bottom of Serie A after two games with Bologna also losing their two ties.
