koulibaly napoliEverton are plotting a surprise summer move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Premier League side currently have only two senior centre-backs in the form of Phil Jagielka and John Stones and the coach Roberto Martinez, is eager to bolster his defensive options especially due to Chelsea’s pursuit of Stones.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, The Toffees have already lodged a bid for Koulibaly, who only signed for the Azzurri in the summer of 2014 from Belgian club Genk.

The Partenopei may also have to fend off interest from Southampton, whom are also keen on securing the services of the 6ft 5inch defender.

The Frenchman made 27 appearances in Serie A last season, as Napoli finished fifth and ultimately failed to qualify for the Champions League.
