Philippe Mexes - AC MilanPhilippe Mexes may find himself closer to a move with Fiorentina, as the club have made contact with AC Milan to express an interest in taking the player to Florence.

The 33-year-old centre-back has found himself on the outskirts of the Rossoneri’s newly rebuilt squad, and is open to expanding his travels in Serie A with the possibility of more playing time with La Viola.

According to Sportitalia, Fiorentina have received an agreement from the former Roma player to become available for a potential transfer, but any switch will be far more likely should Jose Maria Basanta make a return move to Liga MX side Monterrey.

Mexes kicked off his long standing Serie A playing career in 2004 with Roma, where he went on to make 183 appearances and earned two Coppa Italia trophies before joining Milan in 2011.
