Fluminense have reportedly accepted an offer from Roma for the Brazilian wunderkind Gerson.

However, the deal is reportedly complicated as the 18-year-old would take up one of the Giallorossi’s non-EU slots which are supposedly reserved for Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko.

According to Il Tempo, Roma have made an offer of €16 million plus €1m in bonuses for Gerson, with Marquinho offered to his former side as part of an exchange deal.

The Rio de Janeiro club are reportedly ready to accept the offer but the transfer has been delayed by the fact that Gerson’s arrival would see Roma exceed their non-EU quota.

The Giallorossi are therefore now reportedly willing to continue with their pursuit of Gerson but must find another Serie A side with non-EU places to spare to take the player on loan.

Gerson has made 12 appearances for Fluminense since making his senior debut in February 2015 during a 1-0 home defeat to Vasco de Gama.

Marquinho spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Al-Ittihad where he scored nine goals from 26 appearances.
