Roma outcast Ashley Cole is set to prematurely bring to an end his stay in the Italian capital, with the club reportedly close to terminating the player’s contract.

The 34-year-old joined the Giallorossi last summer after spending eight seasons with English Premier League giants Chelsea, but quickly fell out of favour with boss Rudi Garcia.

According to the Observer, Roma are desperate to part ways with Cole, however negotiations have reached an impasse regarding the pay out of the ex-England international’s contract.

It has been reported the Stadio Olimpico outfit are unwilling to pay the full amount remaining on Cole’s current deal, which was set to expire at the end of the season.

Cole, who also enjoyed success at Arsenal, accumulated just 11 Serie A appearances with the Eternal City side during the 2014-15 campaign.
