Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has confirmed his side’s interest in Inter midfielder Gary Medel.

The Turkish side are currently dealing with a situation regarding current midfield man Felipe Melo who wants to leave, and in doing so have targeted a replacement in the form of Nerazzurri enforcer Medel.

“We left the Brazilian [Felipe Melo] a couple of days to decide, between today and the maximum of tomorrow the situation will become much clearer,” said the president to Hurriyet regarding Melo’s wishes to leave the club.

“We want things to go smoothly and we want Inter’s [Gary] Medel.

“We are continuing to talk about the situation because we want some high-level players at the club.”

As Inter are currently the front-runners to sign Galatasaray’s Felipe Melo, the possibility of a straight-swap involving Medel has been suggested, although coach Roberto Mancini has stated that the Chilean will not be moving on from the Stadio Meazza this summer.
