German Denis - AtalantaGenoa and Sampdoria are set to renew hostilities before the season has even begun as both clubs are looking to lure Atalanta striker, German Denis, to the Ligurian port city.

The Rossoblu are searching for reinforcements to their front-line following a failed bid for AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang, while the Blucerchiati are eager to appease their supporters in the wake of a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Vojvodina in the Europa League.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the Argentine centre-forward is the preferred solution for both Genoese clubs, but the Bergamo-based side will be reluctant to let their captain leave.

However, a bidding war between the Derby della Lanterna rivals could raise the valuation of the 33-year-old, prompting the Nerazzurri to entertain offers for their powerful forward.

Denis scored eight goals in thirty-two Serie A appearances for the Orobici in 2014/15.
