Genoa could bring in Argentine defender Cristian Ansaldi.

The Italian club are searching the market for defensive reinforcements which can be completed before the transfer window closes on Monday, with Ansaldi the latest name to be linked with a possible move to Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoblu are interested in signing the 28-year-old from his current club Zenit St Petersburg, who value him at around €5 million.

A deal is more likely to be a loan, however, with the option for the Serie A side to purchase the player outright at the end of the spell.

Ansaldi has played for the Russian side since 2013, winning the 2015 Russian Super Cup.

He has scored once in 14 games for Zenit, and went out on loan to Spanish club Atletico Madrid for the duration of the 2014-15 season.
