Alessandro Nesta Montreal ImpactFormer AC Milan and World Cup winner Alessandro Nesta has become Miami FC’s new coach in the North American Soccer League.

The 39-year-old, who also represented Lazio and acquired three Scudetti during his playing days, enters his first ever coaching role.

Coming direct from Miami FC’s twitter, the club announced the arrival of Nesta as their head coach.

The Italian had recently played for Montreal Impact before turning out for Indian Super League club Chennaiyin.

Miami’s co-owner, who just so happens to be former AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini, was delighted by the appointment.

“We are incredibly thrilled to bring Alessandro on board with Miami FC,’’ said Maldini, as reported by the Miami Herald.

“As a former teammate and personal friend of Alessandro, I have a great amount of respect for his talent and believe he will bring out the best in our players.’’

Nesta responded with his joy for joining the club as head coach.

“I’m happy to say I’ve reached another exciting chapter in my career,’’ he said.

“I’m privileged to be allowed the opportunity to help establish Miami FC and bring it to the forefront of the North American Soccer League.’’
