Juventusmontolivo are rumored to be interested in AC Milan‘s Riccardo Montolivo as a possible replacement for Andrea Pirlo.

The Turin club sold Pirlo to New York City FC in July, and while the club has been busy in the summer transfer window they have not yet brought in an adequate replacement for the influential midfielder.

Mediaset reported the news that Massimiliano Allegri is eager to help revive Montolivo’s career, a player he recruited during his time with AC Milan, much like Juventus once revived Pirlo’s.

The 30-year-old Italian international arrived at the Stadio Meazza from Fiorentina in 2012 and went on to become among the more important players at the club, making over 60 appearances for the club in his first two seasons.

Injuries before and during the 2014-15 campaign significantly limited Montolivo’s playing time and he seems to have lost his place in the starting XI as a result.

Should the transfer happen, it would coincidentally parallel Pirlo’s own move to Juventus in 2011 after he too was exiled from AC Milan’s first team.
