Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira will face a two month spell in the sidelines with a thigh injury, medical tests have confirmed.
The 28-year-old sustained the injury in his first appearance for the Old Lady while chasing a ball during their 2-0 friendly defeat to Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome on Saturday.
It has now been revealed that Khedira, who had earlier missed a friendly match against Borussia Dortmund due to a muscular problem, has succumbed to a second-grade tear in his right thigh and will miss the initial stages of the Bianconeri’s title defence.
“Sami Khedira will be sidelined for approximately two months after medical examinations revealed a second-grade myotendinous tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh,” a statement from the club’s official website read.
The latest injury set-back comes after a series of problems with Real Madrid last season, where he made just 17 appearances in all competitions.
