Following an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Chievo at the Stadio Bentegodi on Sunday and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli gave a blunt and honest review of his side’s lacklustre showing.
The Biancocelesti were down 3-0 by half-time after brilliant performances from Riccardo Meggiorini, Alberto Paloschi, and Valter Birsa, and Pioli was not impressed by his side’s display.
“It’s clear that we have suffered the psychological effects [of the goals],” admitted Pioli in his press conference after the match.
“It was an embarrassing display and I am sorry.
“The team that played today was competitive and good enough to win the match.
“We need to pick ourselves up now.
“There is a break now, we need to get our campaign back on track.
“We need to change quickly otherwise it will be a disappointing season for us.”
