Lazio crashed out of the Champions League following a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Antonio Candreva full of regret.

The Biancocelesti won the first leg, but lost 3-0 in Germany to slump into the Europa League.

Speaking to Mediaset Premium after the match, the winger expressed his disappointment.

“We made it difficult for ourselves in this match,” he lamented, “but we didn’t play badly in the second half with ten men.

“We just needed a goal to get back into the game. It started with the first leg and the game against Bologna.

“We don’t know how much we missed those who were injured, but they are points of reference. It happened, so we’ll have to start again.”

Lazio travel to Chievo at the weekend, but not before finding out who their Europa League opponents are. The draw for the group stage of the competition will be conducted on Friday afternoon.
