Roberto Mancini has called for realism in the expectations of Inter’s season ahead of their Serie A trip to Carpi.

The Nerazzurri secured an opening day win when loan signing Stevan Jovetic curled home a 93rd minute winner against Atalanta, kicking off Mancini’s first full season back in charge of Inter with three points.

“I knew the difficulties when I arrived and the club has always been sincere but I am not a magician and I knew this would take time,” Mancini told DJ Football Club.

“We hope to do well but it will take time to settle the team and I am convinced we can do better than last year.”

The Italian also discussed the Biscione’s move for Ivan Perisic after the sale of Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid.

“Perisic is expected to arrive today,” Mancini said, “Kovacic was purely a matter of economics and reluctantly we said goodbye.

“The only serious offers we had were for Kovacic and [Xherdan] Shaqiri, we were unable to sell other players, so those two left.

“I do not know about Eder, but we have to improve the team by signing physical players.”
