The 20-year-old Serbian youth international came close to joining to joining Fiorentina before the capital side agreed on a €9 million move with Belgian side Genk.

“I am very happy with my transfer to Lazio, said Milinkovic-Savic to reporters after attending a fixture between Genk and Gent as a spectator.

“The transfer fee that the club spent on me is very high, maybe too high.”

“On August 3 I will be in Rome for my medical and to sign the contract and then I will leave for Shangahi [Where Lazio will face Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana.]”

Milinkovic-Savic made 24 appearances and scored five goals for Genk during his one season in the Belgian Pro League after joining from Vojvodina in 2014.

The Serbian won the Bronze Ball at the Under-20 World Cup after his country won the competition in New Zealand.
