Pazzini - AC MilanNew Hellas Verona striker Giampaolo Pazzini has said that he is excited to play alongside Luca Toni.

The Italian has joined the Mastini on a free transfer after his contract with AC Milan expired.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Pazzini said he wanted to be Toni’s long term replacement at Verona.

“One thing is for sure though: I want to be the future for Verona,” the former Milan striker began.

The 30 year-old was also asked if he thinks the two strikers can play together, and jokingly commented on the competition for goals in the Gialloblu’s attack for the coming season.

“Can I work with Toni? Yes we can because I can do more defensive work.

“I do not want predict the number of goals I will score, because I want to score as many as I can.

“No, I have not yet made any bets with Toni on who will score the most goals.”

Finally, the former Inter and Milan forward spoke about his difficult last season with AC Milan under Filippo Inzaghi, and commented that continuity is a key factor in him regaining his form.

“Inzaghi kept making different choices, it did not help.

“He started with Torres first, then Menez as a false nine, then put me wide right and then back to Ménez.

“At one point, I stopped asking, and I thought only about working hard.”
