Italy v Croatia - EURO 2016 QualifierInter new-boy Ivan Perisic has chosen to wear the number 44 shirt for the Nerazzurri.

The shirt was worn by Rene Krhin last season, but was vacated when the Slovenian moved to Granada.

FCInterNews.it announced that the Croatian has chosen that particular shirt as his usual number is unavailable.

Perisic wore nine while with Wolfsburg, but Mauro Icardi currently occupies that shirt for the Nerazzurri.

More traditionally, he has won number four for the Croatian national side, but Inter have retired that shirt in honour of Javier Zanetti.

As a result, Perisic has chosen to wear 44, which contains the number four twice.

The transfer of the former Wolfsburg man was confirmed late on Sunday evening, with Perisic having committed to Inter until 2020.

He joined the German side in January 2013, and went on to play 70 games for the club before his move to Italy.
