duvan zapata udineseNew Udinese signing Duvan Zapata has said he left Napoli for less competition in the squad and to improves his chance of being called up to the Colombian national side.

The Zebrette signed him on a season-long loan from the Partenopei and he has chosen to stay at Napoli in the past but he left this summer in order to find more room in the team.

“In every transfer window I had the opportunity to leave but I always wanted to stay [at Napoli],” the 24-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“That was until this year when I chose Udinese to find more squad space.

“They were the most interested in me, I hope to do well.”

The Colombian international gave another of his motives to join Udinese, saying it’s not just about the club.

“I also chose to leave Napoli to have a better opportunity to join the national side,” he said.
